I had move my faith stuff over to another blog due to what someone else said but then changed my mind and like the post said thought sod it. Anyway in between Aine from 'The Deepest Well' blog left me this very nice comment and I left a reply for her. so what is below is what I've copied over from my other blog. I've probably just made that about as clear as mud but hopefully you'll know what I mean :)

2 comments:

Aine said...

Wonderful post! I can't agree more, as you know. I see, time and time again, the enthusiasm a newcomer to Paganism experiences and most of them abide strictly by the 'rules' and I see this as a great learning experience. At some point, however, most of us start to feel unsure because we don't feel the "connection" to the old ways that we feel we should. Many pagans start to feel, at some point, that we are simply going through the motions. I did too. I think that is because instead of adjusting our practice to our lives we continue to "perform" our rituals the way we believe our ancestors did. While I believe that the ancestors do pass down, one way or another the old rituals, spells, etc., it is important that we take those and give them personal meaning. It's not that hard to do - native north americans have been doing this forever - taking the myths and constantly finding personal meaning in current situations and settings. I do not believe in the old gods literally, however I do view them as representations of entities/spirits who are and have been viewed and honored differently by pagans throughout time and given different names but I also see them as archetypes too. That's why it's important to take note of the ones we are drawn to and the ones that we are not.

I think this is the wonderful thing about Paganism, how we are always growing and learning and changing, like nature.
1 June 2011 17:02

My reply was.....

Thanks for the well thought out reply Aine. As you know I agree with you on many things and again find myself nodding in agreement with this post.

I think most people who first start to look at paganism start from the same point but then as they go deeper it is all down to personal meaning. The connections we make to our god(s), ancestors and faith is what makes that faith real, but it has to be our own connections straight from the soul and heart, you can't get that our of a book.

Frith x
1 June 2011 23:15Dragonfly Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13400396758944806360noreply@blogger.com
